[AutoDaily] Import manufacturers is defending itself by means of scouting specialized attorney and creating new legal department, due to offensive from the government’ inspection agency such as investigation unfair transaction from Fair Trade Commission(FTC), tax audit from National Tax Service, and seizure and search by the prosecution. Furthermore, the president of import company was chosen as a witness in inspection of the administration. BMW Korea which has the president Kim Hyo-jun called as a witness on inspection of the National Policy Committee administration last month, created the legal department.
This legal team has the professional man as team leader class, and plans to scout specialized attorney soon.
Also, Audi-Volkswagen Korea recruited specialized lawyer as executive director last September, then confront FTC and prosecution investigation.
Mercedes-Benz Korea which has the new CEO Britta Seeger summoned to Congress inspection, hires 2 attorneys for taking full charge of it.
The legal team of Benz Korea takes not only Benz Korea’s problem also Mercedes-Benz Financial Service Korea’s credit collection or various legal works.
One of the important examination companies, Toyota Korea, has not run the legal team yet. It copes with by law firm like Kim and Jang.
The import car industry has several pending issue; accuse of perjury on congress, the recall of panorama sunroof on MLIT(Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport), investigation of over-repair cost.
A person from import company said “the increase of the import car makes big pie on Korean market. It causes friction in any single area, so the specialized team is necessary.”
Hyndai-Kia motor, however, scouted as many as 7 people from Impartial Panel as nonexecutive directors. They stand up to examination of unfair conduct and giving in a lump work.
