The BMW’s Youngjongdo Driving Center is setting to be a mecca for imported cars.

According to BMW Korea, the Driving Center, officially opened last July and entered into operation since last August, was visited by around 40,000 people during the five months of August through December.

This means that monthly visitors numbered 8,000 on average, and it is expected to increase to 10,000 a month this year as all the facilities will be fully operational.

15% of the visitors were enumerated to be BMW owners, while the remaining 85% are the owners of other brands.

A person at BMW Korea said that “The BMW Driving Center was buzzed among Chinese tourists and so became a popular spot to visit for them, and even foreign airline staff like to come to.”

As the Center got such a popularity, BMW is setting up the second driving center in California where the U.S. head office is located, and Chinese headquarter is also going to benchmark it. BMW already has two driving centers in Munich, Germany and South Carolina, U.S. where BMW’s Spartanberg plant is placed.

A representative of BMW Korea said that “As a variety of programs will be introduced this year, more than 200,000 visitors are expected to visit as planned.”

BMW Korea has opened an ice link within the Center and also introduced a ‘Winter Driving Program.’

The ‘Winter Driving Program’ is experiencing winter road conditions, for which the comparison test of normal and winter tires is given, and a teaching program for safe driving in winter is included for experiencing the safety of BMW cars.

The Driving Center is adjacent to Incheon Airport having a lot of 72,000 pyeong, affiliated with 6 test courses and green parks, a sports park of football playground, and also a 5,000 pyeong of brand hall, training academy, etc.

An extension of 2.6km test course is comprising six kinds of courses, such as acceleration and braking course, handling course, BMW X-drive(4wd) course, dynamic course, circular course, and multiple course, that are all for experiencing various performance and functions of BMW cars.
