[AutoDaily] Last February, GM Korea released the Chevrolet Trax compact SUV and will soon be launching turbo models of the Cruze and Aveo.

GM Korea is planning to sell the Chevrolet Cruze which is made in Gunsan, with the ECOTEC 1.4-liter turbocharged engine in September.

The ECOTEC 1.4L is a turbocharged engine that produces 138hp with a state-of-the-art oxygen sensor, a light weight crankshaft and downsizing technology, it's made to enhance its competitiveness in the world market. So the new engine development will improve performance and efficiency in the coming Chevrolet Cruze.

The new engine being economically more efficient and more powerful will also save money for the owners in the taxation based system on engine displacement in the Korean market.

The Chevrolet Cruze already has two existing engines in their line-up to choose from being the 1.8L petrol and the 2.0L diesel. Customers will now have the ECOTEC 1.4L turbo as a choice in the line-up.

Coming in October, GM Korea will be selling the Chevrolet Aveo turbo with the same ECOTEC 1.4L turbo as the Cruze, with manufacturing in Bu-pyeong.

GM Korea is targeting the Korean compact segment with Trax, Cruze and AVEO.

GM korea said they are expecting their compact line-up to increase in sales from the new engines benefits. Customers will pay a lower tax from the engine displacement created by the new engines downsizing technology which will create better fuel efficiency and more power from the turbo.

Meanwhile, diesel models will be added to the Malibu and Trax. The Malibu will see a diesel early next year while the Trax will be equipped with a diesel certified under the Euro 6 legislation by the end of 2014 or early 2015.
