[AutoDaily] People from GM Korea are outstanding in manpower movement between the car industries.

Including domestic operation headquarter CRM of Hyundai motor, the marketing operation division located in Yangjae-dong head office scouted several management staffs from GM Korea. The exactly number of people was not known, also R&D department has new person from GM Korea.

There is easy to find ex-GM employee in Renault-Samsung as well. The Renault-Samsung is recruiting a job for persons with R&D experience. Applying a good number of current and former researchers was known for this recruitment.

Moreover, there are office workers from GM in recruiting the general officer. As Renault-Samsung design center is raised to Asia total center of Renault group, the manpower supplement will be noticed.

Not only domestic automaker but also imported companies like major sales one are trying to scout an administrative position. According to a head-hunter, many of current workers are considering to change their job form GM, surely retirees as well.

The reason that they are leaving is anxiety about the future.

There were twice voluntary resignations in 2012 March after Sergio Rocha appointed the office. He gave a notice a voluntary retirement this year, too.

The GM Korea is excluded from a productive center of Cruze next generation. The Cruze is the best-selling model of Chevrolet in the world market. The GM headquarters decided to withdraw Chevrolet brand from European market last year-end, so GM Korea is deprived of a supply their export production yearly 180 thousand units.

In addition, the company is reconsidering the ‘GMK 20XX’ project what is investing 8 trillion won to design and R&D department in 5 years. It makes executives and staff members big anxiety.

It is very similar to ‘Daewoo Men’. when Daewoo motor disappeared in history 10 years ago. The Daewoo motor, which was under legal management in 2000, went through restructuring and disposal of itself.

The GM took over passenger car part. And commercial vehicle parts were taken over by Tata and Youngan. The sales department passed through several investing companies, then recently was sold by Yongan. In this process, many of Daewoo Men left.

10 years ago, Daewoo Men moved to various imported car industry. There are representative men. For example, Han Young-chul, the president of Prime motor, served as Volvo Truck Korea, Park Jae-chan was the president of the Class Hyosung, and An Young-suk, director of Renault-Samsung, was CEO of Chrysler Korea.

The people from Daewoo shouldered a heavy responsibility in imported and sales company without choice. They led imported car market explosive growth.

They were outstanding on marketing, sales and management based on an abundant overseas experience, and understanding a dealership structure. They were good recognized in their filed compare to people from Kia, which was being in admission process by Hyundai group.

People from GM Korea are also welcomed in industry. Former Deawoo men were limited only for imported company, however, they are wanted in many places.

They have learned an international sense and global mind from close task with GMIO. The GM’s company training program followed global standard is evaluated lead-up among the domestic company. The GM Korea exceptionally provides high quality training and supporting program for women employee.

The manager who just moved to CRM department of Hyundai is woman. Since GM-Daewoo times, the CRM is a special part which accumulated more 7~8 years know-how from GM’s custom relation management system. She is the attractive person to the Hyundai what just established GRM team in 2011.

This outflow of human resources can exert a bad effect to GM Korea. The GM Korea could not reach their target ‘the double digits domestic market share’ during the past two years, because Deawoo Men made imported market a big pie.
