GM position is the polar opposite of the U.S & Korea

[AutoDaily] General Motors (GM) show the contrast way between U.S.A and Korea. The production facilities and jobs in U.S.A are increased steadily but, in Korea, the company executes business restructuring.
 
GM said on November 16 it will invest $1.3 billion at production facilities. Following this investment plan, the money will go two places for assembly plant, and three places for power-train factories.
 
In details, $600 million will go to the Flint factory, around $121 million will go at the Detroit-Hamtramck factory, and GM also will spend $493 million at its Romulus which produce V-6 engine. Especially, GM will support $390 million for retooling project like reinstating lay off 500 workers.
 
There are 7500 worker in the factory in Michigan, and then this investment will create 1000 more jobs.
 
GM also made a decision for invest $30.6 million on a transmission factory in Toledo, Ohio; and $29.9 million a casting plant in Bedford.
 
In the same day, GM Korea CEO Sergio Rocha announced through web-chat that they will get voluntary retirement next year first quarter. GM explained that the company gives new opportunity for elderly workers near retirement, and gets rid of personnel congestion.
 
The union and the person from company said that is compulsory restructuring. Recently, GM decided withdraw of Chevrolet brand from European market, so GM Korea’s supply will diminish 180 thousand units for export.
 
The union of GM Korea said the company noticed pullout Chevrolet brand without enough prior consultation. “We can't sit down quietly under that humiliation.” they warned.
