[AutoDaily] Lee Kyung-Hoon carried the election new convener of Hyundai industries’ labor union. It has been 2 years to seize the power.

On 8 November, Lee won 22,135 votes (52.09%), which represented 42,493 votes (89.94%) of all ballots available. As a comparison, Ha Boo-Young, the former director of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions in Ulsan, had 19,906 votes (46.85%)

Last 5 November, the Hyundai labor union holds the first election for 5 candidates. This election, Lee got rank first by 19, 489 votes (45.42%), Ha earned 8,262 votes (19.25%), ranked second. They beat 3 militant candidates. This vote for Lee is the highest first rate since 2002.

The background which all militant candidates were beaten and Lee in benefit ways and Ha in middle way won seems to be that the union members had hostility to executives of militant union last 2 years.

Convener Lee had on negotiations which are no strike wage and collective arrangement with the company for the third years in a row. Recently, the conflict between the company because of long term strike and refusal of extra work looks like to give the union fatigue.

Convener Lee said a few words on being elected “I understand that it is time to finish the union’s social isolation and to break out of a vicious circle the labor movement itself from side to side”
