The fascinating exhaust sound of Maserati Ghibli and Quarttroporte lost their own peculiarities. The Ministry of Environment’s examination on the exhaust sound turned out to be exceeding the permitted level, so that all were subject to recall. Consumers however are regretting the eventual loss of the attractive sound of Maserati after the recalling.

Several owners of Maserati are voicing that the exhaust sound of all Ghibli and Quattroporte has substantially subdued after the recall. Some owners are of opinion that they are feeling even reduced power. “I got an updating of ECU at a service center on the notice of recall, and then its peculiar sound was gone away,” said a driver of Maserati Ghibli.
The driver can control the exhaust sound by adjusting the variable exhaust emission controller, and at low speed or power a subdued sound is produced, while at high speed or power an imposing sound are emitted.
Among Maserati mania, the exhaust sound is no more than the reason for driving a Maserati.

The reduced sound of Maserati seems to be due to the recall. Actually the MOE has an emission test on Maserati Ghibli S Q4 last June, and the HC content exceeded the permission, and so an order was issued to correct the problem.
The subject models of recall comprised 611 units of Maserati Ghibli S Q4 and Quattroporte S Q4 that were imported by FMK and sold during October 8, 2013 until June 2, 2015.
The MOE informed that the regular check of emissions on the condition of idling after starting the engine showed an excess of HC by 0.01g/km, over the required 0.034g/km, due to unstable engine rpm.
