Mercedes-Benz Korea(MBK), as they promised early this year, is to operate a social contribution program.

However, relevant fund-raising has not been schemed out, and so will take time for completion.

MBK, in cooperation with its affiliates, like Daimler Truck Korea(DTK) and Benz Financial Service Korea(MBFSK), and 11 official dealers, announced on 26th June the implementation of a social responsibility program called ‘Mercedes-Benz Promise.’

In this connection, MBK is planning to have a ‘Mercedes-Benz Promise’ proclamation celebration at Yeouido on 29th June 2014.

The program does comprise an educational program for children’s road safety ‘Mercedes-Benz Mobile Kids,’ an industry-academy collaboration program ‘Mercedes-Benz Mobile Academy,’ and a dealer and staff member joint program ‘Together with Mrecedes-Benz.’

The ‘Mobile Kids’ program is the world’s first educational program for Children, developed by the German Daimler-Benz head office in 2001, and adopted in the primary school textbooks in Germany. So far 1.6 million children from 13 countries have participated in the program.

The ‘Mobile Kids’ program has been localizted to the traffic conditions and environments in Korea, and will be operated especially for isolated kids who need social interest and protection.

The program will be composed of several sub-programs, such as education for accident prevention and tackling dangers, games, training, tool kits, role playing, exercises, etc., that will arouse kids’ interest and enhance their perception on the road safety.

MBK has entered into a preliminary operation of the program from the mid-June through social welfare organizations and kids centers in Seoul and its vicinity, and a full operation by professional tutors will begin from July 2014.

By the end of the year a total 70 organizations and 1,500 children are expected to participate in the educational program, with each organization offering four educations.

The mobile academy which opens in September is a program introducing the advanced technologies of Mercedes-Benz and its global education know-how directly to the automobile-related classes at local colleges

The program in particular has its peculiarity in teaching not only theories but also actual practices by full-time tutors.

The collegians who participate in the program will be given priority in joining the AMT, a Mercedes-Benz’s technician cultivation program, while the superior will get an opportunity to visit the head office in Germany.

The program ‘Together with Mercedes-Benz’ is joined by dealers and staff members and the themes and activity plans are proposed by the participants themselves, and relevant social programs are also participated by them.

MBK’s all programs and fund-raising will be decided by ‘Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee (Chair is CEO of MBK, Mr. Britta Seeger)’ organized by MBK and the representatives of local affiliates and dealers.

The necessary fund will be decided by the end of the year by donating a certain amount of money per unit of car sales and financial services.

MBK is planning to increase the fund continuously, and it will be managed and operated by a social welfare organization ‘Kids & Future Foundation(Chairman Song Ja).’

Actually, MBK has been making contribution to the society through ‘BMW Future Foundation.’ When a customer buy a BMW and voluntarily donates 30,000 won, BMW Korea, the dealer, and MBSFK, each automatically donates 30,000 won, making a total of 120,000 won.
