[AutoDaily] According to Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors (KAIDA), imported cars have sold 103,417 vehicles so far since August this year which is a 23.7% increase over last year(83,583) for the same period.

They have achieved 100,000 vehicles sales two months earlier than last year, which was 107,725 vehicles sold up until October 2012.

The imported car market is growing at fastest pace in Korea since it achieved selling 100,000 vehicles in 2011.

BMW AG leads the way with 23,172 vehicles sold, MINI 3,997 and Rolls-Royce with 21, giving a total for the company at 27,190 vehicles sold in the Korean market so far this year. They have achieved 26.3% of the import market.

In September BMW Korea will be releasing new 5 Series models.

Following BMW in their footsteps you have Mercedes-Benz with 16,154 vehicles and Volkswagon 16,054 vehicles sold. The top models with their popularity from these brands are on backorder right now. Volkswagen Korea has been focusing on surpassing Mercedes-Benz in cumulative sales by the end of September.

Audi has sold 13,032 A6's and without any new models in their line-up, they are just concentrating on marketing the RS and Quattro.

German auto brands BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen and Audi take up 66.2% of the import market in Korea. Some analysts feel that sales of specific brands is hurting the import market more than helping it.

Following the Germans is Toyota with 5,617 vehicles sold. The Camry is also seeing a backorder. Even though they had and aggressive marketing campaign at the beginning of the year, they didn't seem to supply enough cars for the demand that came from their marketing.

Jaguar Land Rover Korea is also increasing in market growth. Sales of Land Rover hit 1,957 vehicles and Jaguar with 1,166 vehicles sold making the company 3,123 sold in total so far up until August this year. They are up 69.1% up from the same period last year.

American car makers Chrysler and Cadillac have decreased in sales from the same period last year. Cadillac has been reorganizing their position this year by combining with GM Korea to improve sales. Ford on the other hand has seen sales increase by 44%.
