[AutoDaily] Honda Korea is not doing a good job about quality management of imported cars from the U.S.

Honda Korea lately has been trying to bring some of the Honda line-up in from the U.S. since the end of last year. By importing from the U.S. it also helps by reducing the exchange risk.

The Odyssey and CR-V that have been imported from the U.S. for Honda Korea have been spotted with some rust. These two makes have been sold to customers who have noticed some rust on their cars and have created customer complaints.

Many customers are complaining to Honda Korea about a couple problems they have come across, like rust found on the bottom of the car on just released vehicles and the paint is peeling away on the doors or in other particular areas.

The cars can possibly become corroded by the exposure to the sea air from shipping by cargo ship to Korea from the U.S. So Honda Korea has to do a final inspection at the PDI(Pre-Delivery Inspection) center before any of their vehicles are delivered to any of their customers.

A Japanese officer said that products manufactured in the U.S. have some insufficiencies compared to the Japanese manufactured ones. So they should have to pass through the PDI before being sold.

But Honda Korea, nevertheless, have just released the cars without going through the final inspection.

In the cases of Nissan and Toyota, which have imported some of their cars from the U.S. before Honda, seem to put their vehicles through final inspection at a PDI center and have no customer complaints.

Dealers at Honda Korea said that they are getting quality complaints about U.S manufactured models compared to Japanese models which did not have any problems. So customers who bought the Odyssey in Korea with rust issues have not received any solutions from Honda Korea to resolve the issue.
